"I want your BOD!"
You’ve heard that before. And, if you haven’t, you aren’t wearing BOD Man. It makes everything sexier. Playing football. Getting a tattoo. Hell, even just walking down a hallway with an ice bucket. Since 2004, BOD Man's seductive scents have kept them the #1 men's fragrance body spray in America. Until scientists invent an actual human pheromone, BOD Man is as close as you’re going to get.
So how's this for a sexy offer? BOD Man wants to give two lucky (and very talented) Tongalers their TV debut. They need some short and steamy commercials to run on television and maybe even the big screen!
BOD Man is asking for some fresh and sexy new takes on their existing commercial campaign. They love the dreamlike quality of the currents spots but they’re looking for ways to tone down the cheesiness. They want to elevate this to something that’s artful but still sexy. They’re dropping the song used in the existing ads but the spots should still be wordless, black & white and feature incredibly fit, shirtless men. The typical BOD man just oozes sex appeal. He’s an Adonis carved from granite. He’s Michelangelo’s David but less pasty.
So if you think you can pull off one hell of a seriously sexy commercial (or just have an Idea for one), click on the Objectives tab to find out more. And hurry – because this project’s going to go by fast. The Video phase ends in just four weeks!
BOD Man wants TWO 15-second commercials for TV, the Internet and possibly cinema. They’re looking for fresh and original spins on their current commercials – cutting out the cheesy and keeping the sexy. These videos should include a handsome, shirtless MAN and a gorgeous WOMAN who can’t stop thinking about him/his smell. Videos must be shot in black & white and have no spoken dialogue.
NOTE TO PITCH SUBMITTERS: Each Pitch Winner will need to create TWO 15-second Videos, each based on one of the winning Ideas. This means you will be submitting TWO separate Pitches - one for each Idea. If you do not make TWO SEPARATE Pitches, you will be disqualified from the Pitch Phase. For the Video Phase, you will be judged on how well you execute BOTH videos.
IMPORTANT CASTING NOTE: BOD Man will need to approve all casting for the Videos. Pitch Winners need to provide them with headshots for potential actors/actresses AND provide recent shirtless shots of the actors.
--Key Marketing Messages:
• BOD Man is seriously sexy. One whiff will have her saying, “I Want Your BOD!”
• BOD Man is all about fit men – their incredible bodies and irresistible scents – and the gorgeous women they attract. These men ooze sex appeal.
--Target Audience: Men (ages 13-21) and Women who buy for them (Girlfriend and/or Mom)
--Executional Mandatories:
• Must not be cheesy or corny. BOD Man wants a serious, sensual take.
• Must be shot in black & white and have a cinematic feel.
• Must have no dialogue.
• Videos should not be imitations of AXE commercials. This isn’t about everyday guys who are chased by women after slapping on a deodorant. BOD Man is a serious scent for seriously sexy men.
• Men in the Videos must be handsome and have sexy, well-defined abs. They should be either Hispanic, African American or of mixed-race. They must be ages 18-23 and have no facial hair. This is very important – the brand will need to approve all actors. The men also need to be shirtless at least one time in the Video.
• Videos must include at least one woman. Consider having a shot of her smelling the fragrance on the man (but it's not required.)
• Must be sexy but not TV inappropriate. These commercials will need to be cleared by the network censors.
• Needs to include an ending product shot similar to the one in BOD Man’s “Tattoo” TV spot. The final product shot must include the BOD Man logo. The ending voice over must say, “BOD Man Fragrance Spray.”
• Music used in your commercial must be an original composition created for this production. If you don't want to create an original composition, you may submit your video with no music track.
--Tone: Serious, sexy and cool.
--Exposure: Television, the Internet and maybe cinema.
--Product: BOD Man will provide Pitch Winner with product samples to use in the video.
This Project will be worth a total of $50,000 and consists of three Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for the perfect BOD man commercial in 140 characters or less. Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. The winning Idea creators will receive $500 each.
PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your TWO SEPARATE Pitches (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute TWO Videos based on each of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:
• Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less summarizing how you plan to approach and execute this Video.
• Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work, showreel, etc. You can also include links to casting choices.
• Images (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, scripts, casting choices, anything that helps get your point across.
• Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you're capable of. Consider submitting a Pitch video in which you tell the Sponsor what they can expect should they choose your Pitch. Also, test videos, animatics, etc. are welcome.
The two filmmakers with the most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $10,000 to help create the Videos. Additionally, upon submitting Videos that satisfy the criteria laid out in your winning Pitches, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitches are selected and you execute your Pitches effectively in your Video submissions, you will win an additional $10,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for $18,000. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 3: VIDEO – The two winners from the Pitch Phase will each create TWO 15-second Videos based upon the Ideas in their winning Pitch. The two Videos will be submitted as one entry with a few seconds of black video in between each spot. The Judges will score the two Videos submitted by each Pitch Winner as one entry to determine the standings for the Video Phase.
--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $18,000 and 2nd place $10,000.
--Music: Any music used in your Video must be an original composition for this production. If you choose not to do an original composition, please submit your Video with NO MUSIC TRACK. If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form.
--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Video creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won (up to $500 per Video win). That’s a potential $1,000 in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
