Building off the previously launched Sticking By Our Vets Video Project, BAND-AID® Brand and Team Red White and Blue want to bring the stories of individual veterans to life and show how Team RWB helps them thrive after returning home. Watch the first Video here, which serves as the campaign anthem. This next set of Videos from this project will provide a deeper dive into the emotional stories of a few of these veterans.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar, Team Red White and Blue is a not-for-profit veterans support group that has a long, successful history of helping veterans thrive in their communities after returning home from active duty. Through social events, fitness camps, relay races, trail runs, training programs, and yoga classes, vets have the opportunity to work together as teammates and continue the camaraderie, accountability, structure, and social environment that brought them together overseas. In addition to providing healthy activity to help veterans stay fit and focused, Team RWB also allows veterans to stay connected with family, friends, and other vets, easing the transition into an active and rewarding future back home.
This is your opportunity to create a heartfelt and meaningful documentary by profiling a member of Team Red White and Blue and sharing his or her story with others. The hope is that by bringing the stories of Team RWB to life, more veterans will participate and find strength in Team Red White and Blue and affinity towards BAND-AID® Brand will increase through its support of this great organization.
Below are the three members of Team Red White and Blue who will each be featured in one Video. BAND-AID® Brand and Team RWB have selected these three individuals because of their unique backgrounds and contributions to Team RWB. Please select one of these three people from the dropdown as you submit your Pitch.
-Amanda Rondon, member and volunteer social director of Team RWB Philadelphia. Her story speaks to the power of civilians getting involved in Team RWB mission. In her own words: When I joined Team RWB I had been searching for an opportunity to give back to my community. I was also in a place in my own life where I was struggling, as a former collegiate athlete, to overcome some of the obstacles I was facing and get back to being active and feeling like myself again. I attended my first Team RWB event, a social, with the intention of meeting veterans and enriching their lives, just as our mission states. What I didn't know was how my own life would be enriched in the process! That night I met so many awesome people who welcomed me as if I had been a part of their group all along.
-Devon Blake is a member of Team RWB Wasington, D.C. She is a mother of four kids and was recently deployed while her children were back home with her husband. In her own words: It’s important to me to lead by example and demonstrate a healthy lifestyle as well as demonstrate service before self to my children. My children often participated in running activities with TRWB, and understand that they can motivate others by encouraging them to do their best
-Will Reynolds from Team RWB Washtington, D.C. and a member of the board. He was wounded in Baghdad in 2004 and is the father of three young kids under the age of 6. Instead of focusing on his injuries which can lead to various other setbacks, Team RWB has kept him on the positive path. In his own words: It has provided me with a safety net of individuals who would assist me in my recovery as I transitions back to civilian life.
The goal of this project is to create an authentic and engaging 90-second Video that profiles one of the three listed veterans who is actively assimilating back into his or her community through participation in Team Red White and Blue. Though these veterans’ stories are innately interesting because of their unique experiences, the ask here is to find a new way to tell their stories. Think about those videos and real stories that are shared by the millions online. They often contain an element of surprise or twist or find a different structure to tell a story. They keep you engaged throughout the whole piece, they make you laugh or cry and make you want to share the story. Please note that filmmakers will need to travel to the city where the Team RWB member they are profiling is located.
--Key Marketing Messages: Team RWB supports veterans as they focus on their futures beyond active service. They are committed to helping veterans adjust to civilian life in positive ways. NOTE: BAND-AID® Brand does act as sponsor, but Video should not focus on BAND-AID® Brand’s role in campaign.
--Target Audience: Veterans and their families, friends, and supporters.
--Executional Mandatories:
--Tone: Heartfelt, authentic, and inspiring.
--Exposure: Intended for use on BAND-AID® Brand and Team Red White and Blue Digital Channels.
--Logos: Logos for Team Red White and Blue and BAND-AID® Brand will be provided for filmmakers to create an opening art card. The end card assets will be provided.
