Adtalem Sonic Signature Project
Pitch
12/10/25 - 03/22/26

Craft a brief and memorable sound cue or "sonic signature" that establishes an identity for Adtalem Global Education, with an optimistic and modern tone that can reinforce their position as America's largest healthcare educator.

Adtalem is America's largest healthcare educator: providing access to quality education and healthcare careers for over 91,000 students across a network of 5 accredited universities. Their mission centers on expanding access and opportunity, and being a place where meaningful career paths become possible. At a time when the United States is facing a substantial healthcare workforce shortage, Adtalem is also partnering with hospitals and healthcare systems to help address that shortage at scale, making them a company that can have a real meaningful impact - both on individual students, and on institutions. Adtalem is about to roll out some new content to support their mission, and they're looking to tie it all together with some sort of consistent and memorable sonic signature - and that's why you're here.

For this project, we’re looking for you to develop a custom sonic signature, in two formats. This signature can take the form of a distinct sound, a melody, or maybe even a lyrical tag, although we're skeptical that vocals will make sense, and we're not looking for an actual jingle or CTA with a tagline. We’ll ultimately need two versions of the sonic signature: a roughly :05 version for longer content, such as a :60 video; and a :02 max version for short formats, like a :10 radio spot. You're not tied to an exact length, but we would like the long version to be about :05, and the short version should not extend past :02. Tonally, this has to feel positive, uplifting, modern, and maybe even tech-forward.

When developing Adtalem’s sonic identity, think broadly about the types of audio signatures brands use and what each form communicates. A melodic tone (like T-Mobile, Intel, NBC, or Netflix) sometimes has notes for each syllable in the brand's name, or for each word in a tagline - but not always - and sometimes hearing a brand's name serves to elevate it (like Farmer’s Insurance), or help someone pronounce it. These approaches function differently, but serve similar purposes. Choose the approach that best reinforces clear, memorable brand recall for Adtalem.

In terms of thematics and thought starters, "opening doors" plays into their messaging. Beyond that, one of the key visuals that they're designing also includes 5 distinct elements (reflecting their 5 universities), and one of the taglines that they're considering has 5 words, so there might be something to developing a signature with 5 beats, or 5 notes, in rapid succession. If you go that route, it's even possible that that visual might be animated in time with your sonic signature. "Progress" is another theme that comes up frequently.

For your submission, we’d like to hear a preliminary audio sample of the :05 extended version that conveys your concept, but optionality is key too, so it's worth considering multiple options or a short written template that explains how you might adjust it (i.e. with different notes, reverb, an alternate mix, quicker pacing, etc.). If you think vocals are particularly important, you may use temp vocals and a working mix for this draft. Adtalem will select one creator to advance, at which point you’ll receive feedback and have the opportunity to adjust, refine, and produce the :02 shortened version.

For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

DELIVERABLES: There are 2 total assets.

  • One :05 sonic signature (+ instrumental only base asset, if applicable)
  • One :02 multi-note sting
  • Working project files to allow for future adjustments, if needed

EXPECTED TIMELINE: HERE

EXPOSURE: We expect content will be used on the platforms below, but if casting talent, be sure they review our required Talent Release before they're cast, as we CANNOT guarantee that usage is limited to these platforms. You should also review our Music providers in the Project Requirements.

  • The final sonic signature could see usage in any content created by Adtalem, whether for their website and other owned digital channels, or paid media, social media, podcasts, etc.

TARGET AUDIENCE: This should work across all of Adtalem's intended audiences, including hospitals, healthcare systems, and medical professionals, as well as potential investors, policy makers, institutional faculty, staff, and leadership, and even prospective students.

TONE/FEEL: The tone should be confident, aspirational, and inclusive.

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

  • Your audio MUST be an original composition, and cannot merely be a stock music sting. However, you may reference or use parts of stock music within that composition, and we have included links to Tongal's music libraries in the Submission Requirements.

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects do move forward, we'll notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and project team.

Hi everyone - The Sponsor has decided not to move forward with a Pitch on this project. Though most Projects do move forward with a selected Pitch, we will always notify you in the event the Sponsor has decided not to move forward. Please note that regardless of the results, all submissions are reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the Project Team. We sincerely appreciate your time and effort on this project.

In order to be considered, include the below materials in your submission. For examples of effective pitches, check out this gallery. All Pitches remain private, even after a Pitch is selected, and Tongal strives to have Pitch selections made by the end of the Evaluation period, but additional time may be required by the Sponsor, depending on any number of factors. Unless specifically requested, there's no need to include a budget with your submission.

  • TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to approach and produce the content listed in the Deliverables.

  • AUDIO SAMPLE (REQUIRED): Provide a short audio sample of what you think Adtalem's sonic signature could be.

  • LINKS (REQUIRED): To your previous audio work. Please specify your role (producer, director, editor, artist, etc.) but do not include links to your showreel. Please link to individual samples.

  • TREATMENT (OPTIONAL): A detailed description of what's going to happen in the final sonic signature. If it's helpful to you, we've provided a treatment template HERE.

The most compelling pitch will be greenlit by the Sponsor, and the responsible creator will then receive an email from Tongal producers detailing next steps. All submitters will also receive an automated email notification that a selection has been announced. To ensure you’re receiving project updates, review your email settings to check that you haven’t unsubscribed.

Creators who’ve been selected will receive funding upon completing the Winner Affidavit and the IP Assignment. Payment of the pitch funds is subject to a payment schedule determined by Tongal, typically included with the project timeline.

REVISION REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: Once Content has been submitted and the initial Production Phase completed, greenlit creators will enter into Revisions. Creators will perform reasonable edits on their videos according to the Sponsor's feedback. Check out our Filmmaker Resource Portal to access helpful post-production resources like Text-Safe Guides for different platforms, Project File Organization Tutorial, Export Presets, and Captioning services.

MUSIC: If you use music from a library for your content, you MUST use one of Tongal's music providers: Universal Production Music, PrimalHouse, or Slipstream Music. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into submissions to this project, and will not require a Music Release Form. To learn more, click on any of the providers' names above.

If you use original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. Please ensure your composer reviews and signs this form BEFORE beginning their work.

ASSET DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCES: You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec in order to submit final payment. You are responsible for any costs associated with the hard drive and shipping. Tongal also reserves the right to request all raw files associated with the project.

To ensure a smoother delivery, please review the Export Presets, Specifications, and Project File Organization Tutorial in our Filmmaker Resource Portal.

You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec to claim your earnings. Tongal also reserves the right to request all raw files associated with the project.
