Celebrate 70 Years of H&R Block Concepting Project
Concept
01/23/25 - 01/29/25

Come up with clever, out-of-the-box, and memorable concepts for either big one-off videos or miniseries that celebrate H&R Block's 70th anniversary and the people who have made H&R Block what it is for decades.

H&R Block turns 70 in 2025, and that's a huge milestone: 70 years of helping people file their first taxes, navigate life's biggest changes, and set their small businesses up for success. That's a long legacy of expertise, built on a solid foundation of real human tax pros helping you with your taxes, both in person and online, and while H&R Block wants to celebrate their history, they also want to do it with one foot planted firmly in the present and both eyes on the future. This is a company that has stood the test of time, maintaining trust from generation to generation of hardworking Americans by embracing change and technology. It's not your great-grandma's tax prep, but H&R Block's values, service, and expertise are the same as what she trusted and expected. No other tax prep company can claim this record.

H&R Block is looking for a few different ways to celebrate their 70th anniversary and all that it represents. Your concepts need to be BIG: we are not looking for a sizzle that shows H&R Block's history through archival images and video. Your concepts need to find a clever and engaging way to drive home H&R Block's unparalleled legacy and focus on human-led tax prep hand-in-hand with their forward-thinking advancements in unconventional, out-of-the-box, and memorable ways.

Your concept can either be for a big, buzz-worthy video that leads a broader campaign going into tax season 2025, or for an ongoing digital video series that can live across the whole year. Either way, at its core, your concept needs to clearly demonstrate what H&R Block means to and for people and propose how to bring that to life. Heineken's "150 Years of Good Times" campaign is a good example of the kind of approach we mean: instead of celebrating their beer, Heineken used their anniversary to position their role in peoples' lives in ways that reflect how consumers actually interact with their product. Focusing the campaign around how people mispronounce and misspell 'Heineken' was relatable, effective, and focused on when and how people choose to drink a Heineken vs the beer itself.

We want your best and most unique ideas that position H&R Block as the trustworthy legacy brand built on people aided by technology. Your concepts must resonate with hardworking Americans across Gen X, Millennial, and Gen Z audiences; their specific tax questions may differ greatly, but at the end of the day, everyone is just looking for trustworthy guidance at the best price possible. For 70 years, that's exactly what H&R Block has been doing.
