About me

Over the last ten years, Matthew Arnold has been either teaching in a computer classroom or behind a camera. He has worked as a photographer, filmmaker, artist, and teacher. He grew up in Elmhurst, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and was fortunate enough to be a student of Coach Joe Newton, the subject of his feature directing debut of The Long Green Line voted #10 Best Sports Film of All Time by ESPNrise.com. Inspired by Coach Newtons ability to positively impact the lives of children, Matthew moved to Los Angeles to teach journalism to middle school and high school students at Harvard-Westlake School. The film was an opportunity to look back to see what makes for an effective mentor and teacher. After the film was released, he returned to the classroom to teach computers and filmmaking at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences, an independent school in Santa Monica. Matthew recently completed the film, The Last Playlist, which is a feature film based on the characters from his web
