Kate is a New York born, San Francisco-based, Emmy-winning filmmaker and still photographer. Kate's recent documentary about marriage led the San Francisco Chronicle to say that Schermerhorn has been labeled everything from the next cultural crusader to the ant at the honeymoon picnic". And the New Yorker has said of Kate's work, "nothing seems wasted, and nothing's excessive. Kate comes from a family of producers, starting with her father, who produced commercials like the iconic American Express Dont Leave Home Without It series. Kate has lived in all sorts of places, including Hong Kong, Florence, a minuscule village in Scotland, and seven years in London.
