Al is a narrative and commercial freelance filmmaker. As a cinematographer and producer, he has led numerous projects, including various feature films, narrative series, and commercial campaigns. Al was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He received a BFA in Film & Media Arts and the Nash Parsley Memorial Award for Creative Achievement from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He is currently bicoastal, based in Los Angeles and New York City. Al draws his creative inspiration from classic cinema. His approach is to fuse new media ideas with a classic cinematic aesthetic to create timeless imagery that transcends temporary fads. Al places a strong emphasis on creative ideation and pre-production. He believes producers and cinematographers must have an understanding and vested interest in the post-production process. Every project is an opportunity to connect with people: with an audience as well as with a community of filmmakers behind the scenes.
