A preloader in the shape of a lightning bolt

When shooting your Videos, here are some important legal points to keep in mind:

  • Your Video must be free of copyrighted material. This means:
    • No copyrighted music – you may not use any copyrighted songs in your Video. This includes melodies as well. So please don’t submit a Video with you humming Bohemian Rhapsody on the soundtrack. All music in your Videos should come from one of Tongal’s licensed music providers (listed on the bottom of the project page) OR be an original composition (in which case, we’ll need a signed Music Release).
    • No copyrighted video – same as above but with regards to video clips. Please don’t include any snippets from movies or tv shows in your Video.
    • No copyrighted items or brand logos  - do not show any logos or recognizable posters/t-shirts in your Video, unless of course, it is the logo of the Sponsor you are advertising for. For instance, you’ll need to cut or blur out any Apple or Nike logos that pop up in your Video.
    • Stock footage – We do not suggest using stock footage, but if you need to in a rare case, you must have the appropriate Extended License.
  • Make sure you have signed Tongal’s release forms for all location, music and talent in your Video. Releases must be signed without any modifications. So please don’t turn in a release with something like “…and you owe me a million dollars!” scribbled into the margins.
    • NOTE: It’s a good idea to get all the releases you need signed before the end of your shoot day. This will save you having to track people down later - possibly delaying payment.
  • Tongal does not provide insurance for Productions and is not responsible for any damages or injuries. You are responsible for anything that happens on your shoot. Check out ShareGrid for equipment rentals; they have great insurance plans.
