At Tongal, our mission is to bring the world’s creative work to the world’s creative talent!
If you’re a writer that means submitting Ideas, Concepts, Taglines, Scripts and more for brands and studios alike to expand on and turn into marketing campaigns. If you’re a filmmaker and/or animator, that means pitching on creative briefs for the opportunity to be financed to produce video content.
Either path you take the “Open Projects” page is your hub for all things projects based.

Here are some common terms you’ll want to familiarize yourself with:
- Open - Any project under the “open” section is just that - open for submissions! The majority of our projects are seeking either Ideation or Pitch submissions, however, some projects may also ask for completed Videos submitted on spec.
- In Production - Once a filmmaker is greenlit by a brand, unless otherwise noted in the brief, the project moves into the Production Phases and submissions are only open to the greenlit filmmaker(s).
- In Evaluation - After each submission phase, projects go into Evaluation. This means the brand is still reviewing submissions and making their selections.
- Past - You can find all the completed projects here! This is a great section to go through for inspiration. Note that not all submissions are made public for proprietary reasons.
Once you dive into a project that interests you, take note of a few key items on the info bar below the project banner.

- Open Bid - This means you get to set the price for your production. Read this article for more.
- Fixed Project Funding - If you see a $ amount that means the project funding is fixed. Mouse over “View Funding” to see a breakdown of the total budget. In most cases, filmmakers receive a portion of the project funding upfront and the rest of the amount as they hit key production milestones.
- Brief & Assets - Thoroughly read the brief to understand the creative ask and give yourself the best shot at having your creative work selected. Helpful assets will be available for download below the brief.
- Submissions - Upload your submission under this tab. If your submission is based on a previous submission phase, don’t forget to read the “Sponsor Notes.”
- Project Forum - Post questions relevant to the project here and someone from the Tongal Team will get back to you ASAP.
