Valentine's Day isn’t always about appreciating what you have, it can also be a painful reminder of what you don’t have. And if you’re like me, then you don’t have a romantic partner to spend this made-up holiday with.

But that won’t stop me from feeling the love this V-Day. So I cordially invite you to join me by drowning your sorrows in a microwaveable Trader Joe’s dinner, some popcorn, a nice (but affordable) bottle of wine and turn on the ol’ Netflix machine to watch these five beautiful relationships unfold:

1. Dirk Diggler and Reed Rothchild, Boogie Nights

When you look up BFF in the dictionary, you’ll see a portrait of Dirk and Reed. Their love for each other runs deep. Reed is by Dirk’s side at his lowest of lows and highest of highs (figuratively and literally). From the moment they compare workout routines, to their failed musical venture, and the eventual botched drug deal with Tom Jane, their friendship and love for one another is the one thing they can count on.

2. Leslie Knope and Ann Perkins, Parks and Recreation

Even though they were fighting during Leslie’s Galentine’s Day celebration these two besties always bring out the best in each other. The best part of their relationship is Leslie’s terms of endearment for Ann, such as: “Ann, you beautiful, rule-breaking moth” “...you beautiful, naive, sophisticated newborn baby” “...you cunning, pliable chestnut-haired sunfish” … et all

3. Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gangee, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Aren’t these little hobbits the cutest together!? All I want is for somebody to completely risk their life for me even though they know they can’t swim. Is that so much to ask for???? If you have 9 or so hours to spare you might as well watch their entire journey together, but only the first installment is on Netflix.

4. Tommy DeVito and his mom, Goodfellas

It’s important to remember that even though you may not have a romantic partner on this night, the woman who loves you the most will always be there for you, your mother. I love watching how well Tommy and his Mother get along in Goodfellas and how he supports her artistic ventures. So sweet.

5. Bob Ross and all of his furry little friends, Beauty is Everywhere

Bob Ross was the most positive and happiest human on the planet. Unfortunately he left us too soon, but watching him and his furry little friends on V-Day will fill your heart with joy and make you forget about the horrible loneliness you’re suffering through on this night.

There you have it. Three heartwarming movies and two shows to binge watch to get you through this holiday. Feel free to comment below with your favorite V-Day movie suggestions!
