In keeping with our promise to you, the Tongal Community, to continually improve your user experience on the site, we’ve made some pretty big updates that we would like to share with you.
First and foremost, we’re proud to announce that Tongal.com now completely HTML 5 compatible. That means if you own an iPhone or an iPad you can make written submissions, watch videos, send messages, etc. all from your mobile device. Watch for a “Make It Mobile” contest in the fall…bet you can’t guess what the winners get.
My favorite update is our new Tongal Globe. It’s something we’ve wanted to create for a long time and it’s an awesome way of visually representing where our active members and winners come from. Have a look for yourself: http://tongal.com/globe
We love the Tongal player, but we also recognize that people may want to share videos to their personal YouTube accounts. That’s why we’ve created “Share to Youtube,” a new functionality that allows you to push videos you’ve uploaded to Tongal directly to Youtube. Simply click the Share to YouTube Button, enter your account information and, voila, it’s there for the world to see. This is also a great way of boosting your Most Viewed count as we can track the views on YouTube using our player. This is a vital component of the $10,000 Binaca Make A Scene Video Project and the more views you rack-up, the better chance you have at taking home a Smart Car.
NOTE: Share to YouTube will not be functional until after the Video Submission Phase closes on a project; so make sure the phase is closed before trying to share it. Also, if you attempt to share the same video to your account twice, you will get a duplication error, so be sure to push the video to your account only once. Finally, the YouTube sign in is case-sensitive, so be aware of that when typing in your Username and Password.
We’re always trying to make it easier for people to integrate their social networks and get connected, hence, our new Sign-Up options. In addition to Facebook Connect, you will now be able to join Tongal via Twitter, Google/YouTube, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Vimeo, and Digg.
NOTE: If you’re already a member on Tongal, visit the “Edit Profile” tab on your Profile page to connect with your other accounts as trying to sign in using these functionalities may produce duplicate accounts.
