In the fourth episode of our continuing series, we caught up with Jeffery Palmer to get the latest from the Director of "Isabelle's Garden"
Tongal: Looking back on your experience, what did the Sundance + Gates Short Film Challenge mean to you? What were some of your favorite moments and memories from your premiere, as well as from the Sundance Film Festival?
Jeffrey: Looking back on the experience, the Sundance+Gates Short Film Challenge changed my life. I remember talking to Heidi Ewing (Co-Director: “The World Is As Big Or As Small As You Make It”) the day of the screening and thinking my film was going to premiere with so many great filmmakers. The screening was also extremely unique. We all felt like a small unit challenging such a huge issue as poverty, although daunting that night we felt like we could conquer the obstacle. Furthermore, after the premiere and later, seeing the results of the post screening, I had hope that art can have a huge impact and that these short films touched many lives.
Professionally, it was amazing. So many festivals and so many people came into my life because of Isabelle's Garden. It’s led to new projects and has been a huge form of outreach and support to Native Americans living in poverty in the United States.
