American Girl BeForever 2015

American Girl characters have won the hearts of millions of girls over the past 25 years. When girls read their books and explore their fascinating eras, they not only have fun, they discover that there's a connection between all girls that transcends time. The BeForever line has girls who are bright and brave, creative and kind, and they all have a story to tell—including Maryellen, the newest character from the 1950s. We want to bring these inspirational characters to life in a whole new way. That's where you come in!

Working with Tongal, American Girl wants you to bring the stories of two American Girl characters to life on screen. Meet Maryellen Larkin, an enthusiastic girl growing up in the fabulous '50s who wants to stand out from the crowd, and Julie Albright, a free-spirited girl from the groovy '70s, who fights for what's right. Maryellen Portrait
I'm Maryellen Larkin.
Here I come, the one and only Maryellen Larkin! I'm 9 years old and there's lots to love about growing up in the 1950s including poodle skirts, rock-n-roll records, and coming up with out-of-this-world ideas—like joining the science club, drawing cartoons, and trying to make my house look just a little more special. Daytona Beach, Florida, is where I live with my parents and my five brothers and sisters. It's a big family, and we have lots of laughs—but sometimes, it can be hard to stand out and really shine. People usually take notice of my big plans, but not everything works out like it does on TV. I don't let my mistakes get me down, though—as long as I stay true to who I am and what I believe, the sky's the limit. Maryellen Signature
Julie Portrait
I'm Julie Albright.
My name is Julie Albright, and I'm 9 years old. Growing up in the '70s is pretty groovy. But I recently moved away from my San Francisco neighborhood near Chinatown. Sure, my new home is just a few miles away, but moving means leaving my best friend, Ivy, and my pet rabbit, Nutmeg. Worst of all, it means leaving Dad, now that my parents are getting divorced. That's a lot to deal with, all at the same time. Good thing I can always find a bright side—I love my new school and I worked really hard to make the basketball team. The boys' basketball team. While changes can be hard to accept, I realize that when it's important—when a friend is in trouble, an animal is endangered, or a rule needs to be rewritten—it's time to make the change happen myself! Now that's groovy! Julie Signature
