ABOUT
I've been interested in video since grade school. I used to hook up two VCRs and a Stereo/CD player to edit videos before computer editing was affordable. I am looking forward to learning as I go.
During and after college, I saved up and bought a computer and a card to digitize analog video. At that point I began editing video using the computer.
When I started a family, my video career/passion was put on hold. Then I went back to school and received my MBA in 2010. At the end of 2009 my passion for video (particularly advertising) re-emerged. I have been investing in some better equipment in order to better compete.
I love video. My dream is to make a feature length film before I die. In the meantime, I will be building my portfolio with commercials and short videos. At some point, video will be my full-time occupation.

How much does my previous video work factor in to the picking of my pitch?

Most of the video projects on Tongal now use the Pitch phase. I'm just curious why a brand would prefer that over just going from the Idea Phase to the Video Phase. I realize they are getting a more developed concept etc. but it seems the Pitch Phase trend is taking the "Crowd" out of crowdsourcing.

Tongal has always been an iterative platform and the Pitch Phase is simply the next logical step in our process. From a brand perspective, the Pitch phase allows for more fully developed, "on-equity" creative to emerge, which means more potential applications and uses for the content.

From a creative standpoint, it means guaranteed payment, increased client feedback and greater exposure for the producer. We think it has, therefore, created a win-win situation for both sides of the equation.

I do see the merit in the Pitch Phase, I like the idea of having a production budget & guaranteed payment. I just hope it doesn't narrow the playing field too much as time goes by.5:17AM May 15, 2012

Hi Pamela, I'll try to answer your questions in order. 1) People who submit a Pitch have a better chance of winning in the video phase, because if your pitch is selected as a winner, you are guaranteed a prize in the video phase. 2) If your Pitch wins, you are required to make a video.

With the time running past 6 pm here in Denmark, I'm still wondering. Is it American og European time? :)
Ethan Olson
I was wondering that too. I'm in the Pacific Time Zone, and it's already almost 9:30.
