Hola Tongalitos! Welcome to our first-ever Spanish language Video Project! And if that isn’t exciting enough for you then how about the fact that the winning video will be aired on broadcast television!
For mothers throughout Mexico, Suavitel fabric softener has been a part of their lives since they were little girls. Their mom used it to make her family’s clothes smell extra clean and feel extra soft and now she does the same for her family. The smell of fresh laundry washed with Suavitel inevitably reminds her of all the little heartfelt gestures her mom did for her, and now she wants her family to experience those same feelings of happiness and contentment too.
At its core, Suavitel is the embodiment of a mother’s love for her children, one of Mom’s quiet and subtle gestures that make them feel safe and loved. The familiar fragrance and gentle softness it leaves on their clothes is like her warm embrace reminding them how much she cares.
The goal of this project is to create an authentic and heartfelt 20 second video (comprised of :17 of video you create and :03 of a bumper to be provided at a later date) along with a 10 second version that pays tribute to mom, and thanks her -- “Gracias, Mama” -- for all that she does. Suavitel wants to represent the voice of children to all the moms who dedicate themselves to the wants and needs of their families.
The video should celebrate a mother’s love that a child feels when he or she smells something that has been washed with Suavitel (e.g. a towel wrapped around him after a bath or the assuring softness of a scarf that is keeping her warm). Whatever the tender situation may be, we want you to find a moment that conveys the love and appreciation families feel when they smell the fresh and comforting scent after mom uses Suavitel.
The message will be broadcast to her for Mother’s Day – the day dedicated for families to tell mom how much they love and appreciate her.
--Key Marketing Messages:
• Thank you, mom, for loving me like you do.
• Suavitel's ultra-fresh fragrance is a reminder of mom's love.
• Tell moms they are loved and appreciated for every little thing they do.
--Executional Mandatories: Videos must showcase children interacting with (smelling, touching, nuzzling into, etc.) the clothing/fabric (blankets, sheets, sweaters, etc.) as they express their gratitude and love.
• Videos must strongly emphasize the fragrance message. Please see this video as an example of how animated flower cues are used to emphasize Suavitel’s ultra-fresh fragrance. Please keep in mind that this just an example and we’d like you to find other creative ways to implicitly or explicitly to convey the fragrance message
• ALSO, ALL OF THE DIALOGUE AND/OR VOICE OVER IN YOUR VIDEO MUST BE IN SPANISH. Idea and Pitch submissions should be in English, but the actual video that is produced must be in Spanish.
•Lastly, Thank you mom- (“Gracias mama”) phrase ONLY can be part of the dialogue and/or voice over, it should be not included as an endslate/copy/super or name of the campaign..
--Target Audience: She is a modern woman, seeking to successfully balance her role as a mother and a professional. She’s loving, fiercely dedicated and expresses her love for her family in many ways including the little details, like making sure their clothes smell extra fresh and feel extra soft. While she doesn’t expect or demand praise for all that she does she greatly cherishes it when it comes her way.
--Tone: Sentimental, loving, heartfelt.
--Exposure: Broadcast run around Mother’s Day in Latin America and Mexico.
This project will be worth a total of $23,750 and consist of three phases, an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for a Suavitel “Thank You, Mom” Video in 140 characters or less. Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. The winning Idea creators will receive $250 and a 5% one-time residual payment for the winning Video their Idea is used to generate. (That means if your winning Idea is the basis for the 1st place Video, you will receive $875, for the 2nd place video you’ll receive $275 and for the 3rd place video you’ll receive $275) – see Video Phase Payout details below.
PHASE 2: PITCH – Using text (500 characters or less), images (storyboards), video, and external links (to other supporting assets, i.e., your reel, etc.), give us your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) for how YOU would go about producing a 20 second video based on one of the winning Ideas. The most compelling Pitch will receive $500 to help create their Video. The winner (upon submitting their Winner's Affidavit and IP Assignment) will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you submit a video during the Video Phase, you will win an additional $500 and have an opportunity to compete for the $11,250 first place Video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment). Remember your Pitch can include any, and all, of the assets mentioned above and you MUST include a link to some of your previous video work on Tongal or elsewhere to be considered for this phase. For an example of an effective pitch, check out Sean Clark’s winning Benjamin Moore “Find Your Perfect Color” Pitch. All Pitches will remain private until after the winners of the Video Phase are announced and the Project is complete. Keep in mind, if you don’t win the Pitch Phase or choose not to create a Pitch, you will still have the opportunity to create and submit a “Wild Card” Video.
PHASE 3: VIDEO – The two winners from the Pitch Phase will create a 20 second video along with a 10 second version based upon their winning Pitch, and all other creators are invited to enter a “Wild Card” (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that is not based on any winning material from the previous phases. The Judges will score all Wild Card Videos and the one (1) highest scoring Wild Card Video and the winning Videos submitted by the Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase. Remember, the two Pitch winners, along with one non-Pitch Video creator, will receive prizes. REMEMBER, ALL OF THE DIALOGUE AND/OR VOICE OVER IN YOUR VIDEO MUST BE IN SPANISH.
--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $11,250, 2nd place $5,500, 3rd place $5,500 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to Idea winners, as applicable).
