Now, the world’s first and largest (over 3 million users) location-based social mapping service is taking things a step further with the launch of a brand new iPhone App: Loopt Star - the first-of-its-kind, mobile challenge game that lets users compete, have fun with their friends and win rewards.
What kind of rewards you might ask? How about 25% off of your next purchase at The Gap? Or 5 free MP3 downloads from artists like Rihanna and Lady Gaga just by visiting your favorite local bar or restaurant with a group of your Facebook friends? Or other REAL-world rewards from top brands? Sound a little better than a virtual merit badge? Yeah, we thought so…
OFFICIAL RULES
Loopt wants you to work together to create a 30-second video/commercial that demonstrates the real-world benefits of using Loopt Star. Your mission is to download the Loopt Star application, explore the world around you, connect with your friends, get real world rewards, and then tell the rest of the world how and why they should do the same.
Feel free to get creative and go beyond the confines and structure of a traditional 30 second commercial. There’s no right or wrong way to achieve the Project Objective, we only ask that you stay within the parameters we have outlined in the project requirements page.
Important Note: In order to really make your work stand out, we encourage you to look for real-world specials in YOUR AREA. However, with regards to Concepts, if you’re in Kalamazoo, MI and you see a special at “Joe’s Bar,” don’t say “Joe’s Bar” in your Concept, say “a local dive bar” or “a local high-end restaurant,” so that people in other parts of the country can execute your Concept in a Video.
Also, remember to focus your Concepts and Videos on the fact that Loopt Star goes way beyond the “I’m here, give me a badge to show everyone I’ve been here” impetus of other location-based social networking programs by offering real value and an actual reason to “check-in” either by yourself or with friends to a specific location. Early on, there may only be a few real rewards in your area. Remember, this is a brand new App. But once we show the world your winning video, there will be hundreds of thousands of specials arriving daily! So focus on the idea, rather than the ubiquity.

Loopt Star – Go places. Find friends. Get stuff.
1. Videos must be no longer than 30 seconds in length. Preferred format is HD 720p 16x9. Acceptable file formats are .mov, .avi, .mp4, .wmv. Acceptable codecs are H.264 (MP4), MPEG-4, H.263, MPGV, WMV, DivX.
2. Concepts and Videos may include Loopt Star’s launch partners and locations (Gap, Starbuck’s, etc.) but the focus of your work MUST be Loopt Star, remember, your goal is to create a commerical for Loopt Star, not a commercial for The Gap, or any other check-in partner.
3. All work must be your own and free of any copyrighted material.
4. All Videos MUST contain the tagline “Go places. Find friends. Get stuff.”
5. Videos MUST use the Loopt Star logo at least one (1) time and for a minimum of three (3) seconds total on screen. It can be the end title/frame of the video. You can choose from any of the logos provided on the CONTEST FILES link on this page.
6. You may but are not required to include any of the other Loopt assets available on the CONTEST FILES tab in your Video.
7. Videos must include the URL www.looptstar.com at the end as a call to action to download the product.
8. It is acceptable to refer to the product casually as “Star.” However, please don’t only refer to the product as “Star” in your videos. Make sure you say “Loopt Star” at least one (1) time.
9. Videos cannot contain any profanity, offensive language, nudity or otherwise objectionable material, the determination of which is solely at the discretion of Loopt Star.
10. Videos must not portray Loopt, Loopt Star or any of the associated sponsors in a negative way, the determination of which will solely resides with Loopt.
11. Videos must be in the English language or subtitled.
12. Limit 3 submission(s) per member, per phase.
13. You must be at least 13 years of age to enter.
14. Minimum twenty (20) videos or the contest will repost for seven (7) days.
