I just want to say that normally in video contests like this, where the sponsor doesn't run the contest, the entrants are usually confused about all sorts of things. Kudos to Dialogue Earth for good communication! (I guess that's your thing, right?)

You've definitely hit on the tricky part of this contest. We wouldn't be doing this topic if we didn't believe it was worthy of societal attention. We want to explain issues like this, yet not tell people what to do. That's a job for others.

I'm having a hard time understanding the point of telling people about ocean acidification, but not wanting people to slow/stop/reverse it. It sounds "bad," but are we just wanting to say, "Let it happen," or what? Thanks in advance!

This note is well-worth repeating: a message like “get the word out” should imply a need to promote the science facts on ocean acidification, and not suggest a call to take action to slow, stop, or reverse ocean acidification.

I sure hope they extend the deadline for making the glaring error of posting the wrong entry deadline. I had 7 students working towards the Nov 9 deadline. Little did we know the sbutton would dissapear mid-phase of our hard work.

This also prevents information from cascading. (ie - one person submits a concept and the rest of the community just builds on that one concept instead of creating different ones.)

You're not able to see other participant's submissions until they are screened for content. This keeps everyone on an even playing field. You wouldn't want someone to see your poker hand before you played it.

The idea behind submitting an image or video is that it can supplement your text or BE your whole submission. If you have story boards that you want to act as your submission, this is how you could submit them.

Story submissions need to be 500 characters or less. Please make it clear and concise. Grammar isn't an issue as long as it's clear.

Yep, you've understood correctly. This is the standard Tongal process. We intend to turn around the story pitches quickly, so that folks will have about three weeks to pull off the 90-sec videos. Best of luck!
