Hey Tony, we actually streamlined things so that "screening" and "judging" were condensed into a one-step process, which allows sponsors to make their decisions faster and more holistically. Hence, videos being private until the winners are announced.

I just submitted a pitch to the monster fighters contest. It isn't showing in the submissions page, or the latest news page. How long does it take for it to show up there? Thanks! :)
Ethan Olson
It should do it immediately, you might want to contact Caleb about it, or re-submit it just in case.

Hey Chris, I can see your submission on your personal "My submissions" page. You won't be able to see it in the submission list because the Pitches are not publicly visible.

Most of the video projects on Tongal now use the Pitch phase. I'm just curious why a brand would prefer that over just going from the Idea Phase to the Video Phase. I realize they are getting a more developed concept etc. but it seems the Pitch Phase trend is taking the "Crowd" out of crowdsourcing.

Tongal has always been an iterative platform and the Pitch Phase is simply the next logical step in our process. From a brand perspective, the Pitch phase allows for more fully developed, "on-equity" creative to emerge, which means more potential applications and uses for the content.

From a creative standpoint, it means guaranteed payment, increased client feedback and greater exposure for the producer. We think it has, therefore, created a win-win situation for both sides of the equation.

I do see the merit in the Pitch Phase, I like the idea of having a production budget & guaranteed payment. I just hope it doesn't narrow the playing field too much as time goes by.5:17AM May 15, 2012

Just wanted to confirm, if you haven't done any projects like this before where you would have outside work to show, you can't enter this contest, right?
Caleb Light-Wills
Yes, this project is for videomakers, so you need to have some past work to show.

Hi Pamela, I'll try to answer your questions in order. 1) People who submit a Pitch have a better chance of winning in the video phase, because if your pitch is selected as a winner, you are guaranteed a prize in the video phase. 2) If your Pitch wins, you are required to make a video.
