Images Copyright

Hi,I'm pretty new here, and not an expert in copyright issues. I was wondering to use some classic images in pitching (and eventually video-making), images like space invaders sprites, superman symbol, tetris bricks and pac-man labyrinth. I now these images are copyrighted, but... if slightly modified? (still recnognizable, but different) Could they be used? They are symbols for our generation, and a creativity boost in some situation...!
