Hey there! New here and have one important questionCan you submit videos , pitches and ideas only if you live in europe or is this only for us and canada?
For example this contest from palmolive?

    Scott Killinger

    Scott Killinger

It varies from project to project, but usually European countries are eligible. Please check the Requirements section of each Project. In addition, check the Tongal official rules: http://tongal.com/ab out/official-rules

Are tax forms supposed to be delivered to recipients of prizes? I'm not to familiar with how the whole tax process works with prizes and I want to make sure I report earnings if I am required to.
    Thanks!

You should be receiving your tax forms any day now.

I think this has been asked but not answered. What's the policy on using SAG talent. Is there a SAG waiver to use provided by Tongal?

    Caleb Light-Wills

    Caleb Light-Wills

Tongal is not a party to any union or guild contracts and that using SAG talent is solely between the producers and the talent appearing who may be in SAG and the guild.

The Tongal Talent Release addresses this.

I have a pitch that I think is great (of course I do), but have zero video producing ability. How would I find someone on this site who might be willing to team up with me (my idea, their video) to split any winnings?

    James DeJulio

maybe cross reference the leaderboard with your city and make friends?

    Jeff Andrew

What if I want to collaborate with a friend on a project... He does the idea and pitch and I create the video. How do we ensure that we each receive credit for our native creations?

    Caleb Light-Wills

    Caleb Light-Wills

You'll be able to credit your collaborators on any video you produce by visiting your "my submissions" page and clicking the "add/edit credit." Once you do this, it will show up in your friends portfolio as him having been "credited" on the piece. Example: http://tongal.com/to ngaler/dylan.walker

So as I understand it my friend could now submit a pitch and I could make a video based on it ( with his permission of course) and we would each receive our credits due?

    Caleb Light-Wills

    Caleb Light-Wills

    @Jeff Andrew
If you wanted to make a Video based on his pitch, you'll have to do it under his name as the only people who can create videos based on a winning Pitch are the video producers who pitched them.

My suggestion would be to form a production company, which would allow you guys to participate under the same masthead. Some of the most successful teams on Tongal have done this (Norman Invasions, SnapBrothers, etc)

C'mon! I want to see the winning videos when they are announced, why are they all private these days?

    James DeJulio

    James DeJulio

we're trying to make sure we have everyones releases in before anything goes public. Tell you fellow Tongalers to have them ready when they submit!

Can you announce when the private winning videos are made public so we can watch them?

  • Jeff Andrew

    Jeff Andrew

How come all of the pitches are "private" how am I supposed to make a video based off those? Or do you have to have your own pitch?

    Erin Fredman

    Erin Fredman

Pitches remain private to avoid "information cascades" (more commonly known as stealing of ideas). You submit your own Pitch, that if it wins, you will then be expected to execute in the Video phase.

    @Erin Fredman
Is it different for some contests? I thought the production teams executed the pitches from other people? So it has to be your own pitch?

    6:48PM Oct 02, 2012

    Erin Fredman

    Erin Fredman

@Jeff Andrew You submit your own pitch, and shoot your own pitch.

  • Jeff Andrew

    Jeff Andrew

Is it possible to submit a video without having a winning pitch?

    Erin Fredman

    Erin Fredman

It depends on the project. We have something called a WILD CARD ( http://tongal.com//d ev/watchTutorial.htm l?id=1014 ) which means that even if you don't want to participate in the Pitch Phase, you can still go for it and make a video based on your own concept. It's denoted by the playing card icon.

Do projects require logos corresponding to the products at the beginning or end of a video? (Do I need an UNO logo for an UNO submission)

    Caleb Light-Wills

    Caleb Light-Wills

It depends on the project. Sometimes you'll be asked to create a bumper and sometimes one will be provided to you. In the case of UNO, you're creating a :13 video to which :02 of an UNO tag will be added at a later date.

Do I need to submit a talent release form for myself for my own video? I am the only actor in the video, and it seems strange that having produced, directed, and edited the video myself, I would have to "Get permission" from myself to use my voice. If someone can answer, please do so quickly. Thanks

    Caleb Light-Wills

    Caleb Light-Wills

Hi Shelby, you'll only need to provide these forms should you win. Should you win, you'll be compensated for the work and ownership will be transfered to the sponsor via Tongal. Therefore, even if it seems counter-intuitive, you will need to fill out a Talent Release signed over to yourself.

hi i"m new to this site and i'm submitting a pitch for the duck tape contest but it also wants me to submit a link to my previous video works. and at the moment i don't have any. is there anyway to bypass that... help please

    Taylor Armstrong

    Taylor Armstrong

with a Pitch, you need to prove to Tongal and the client that you are beyond capable of delivering your project. They can't just put a $1000 payoff in your hands based on good faith.
