In our ongoing effort to exemplify our commitment to you that all work completed on Tongal is valuable and will be recognized, we are excited to introduce to you The Tongal Point System and Leaderboard. The Point System is our way of assigning value to every piece of work ever submitted and a way to assess your ranking relative to other creators on Tongal. Here is an abbreviated summary of how it works:
- Points are earned based on the type of work created (Tagline, Concept, Pitch, Animation, Video, Prediction, Most Viewed, etc.) and are weighted according to the total dollar amount awarded in that particular Phase.
- The more involved the phase (i.e. Video) and the more cash awarded, the greater the number of Points distributed.
- Points are awarded in different increments to the top ten submissions and in an equal amount to every other submission that places outside the top ten. (Even if you don’t place in the top ten, you are still going to be awarded points, just for participating.)
- The Point System has been applied retroactively so that all past participation on Tongal has been considered.
- You can see your Point total on your Profile page.
- If you are ranked among the top 150 Tongal member your Name and Point Total will also appear on the Tongal Leaderboard.
By way of example, if you finished second place in the Video Phase of the Kiva contest, you would have received Five-hundred and eighty (580) points: 7,250 ($ amount in Kiva Video Phase) / 1,000 (relative to $1,000) = 7.25; 7.25 X 80 (Standard value assigned to a Second Place Video) = 580 Points.
There is no limit to the number of Points you can earn and Points have no expiration date. Over the next few months, we’ll be introducing ways in which reaching a certain number of Points will translate to real-world rewards. The rewards we are considering include:
- CASH
- EQUIPMENT / SOFTWARE
- EXCLUSIVE PROJECT OPPORTUNITIES
- SPECIAL EVENT INVITATIONS
- TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES
- PRODUCT DISCOUNTS
- ACCESS TO REPRESENTATION
- FURTHER EXPOSURE
- PRODUCTION BUDGETS
This is part of our overarching mission to create a true creative meritocracy on Tongal. The more work you do, and the better that work is, the more you will be rewarded. This will serve as a way to quantify and measure your participation on Tongal, and as a visual representation of how you stack up against other creators in our community.
